Milk jugs like this one play a vital role in these societies. They are carried everywhere as a container of one of the most elemental of their everyday foods. The leather cord was attached to the jug to help carry it easily. They are also used during the initiation of young men where they drink the fresh blood of the cow from this kind of jug.
