Description
Beautiful vintage wooden musical box, made by Reuge. This timeless piece is lined with red velvet inside, designed to hold precious things. The Swiss wind-up mechanism on the bottom plays Dr. Zhivago Lara's Theme. This piece measures 8 1/2" x 8 1/2" across, and 2 3/4" high.
Reuge originated in 1865 when Charles Reuge set up a musical pocket watch shop in the Swiss Mountain town of Sainte Croix. Thirty years later, his son Albert opened a music box workshop, which eventually lead to the creation of powder compacts and cigarette lighters.
